Cheap flight from Ho Chi Minh to Hue,I must say that fight to Hue was first city that left big impression on me history wise. We started at the Mu Pagoda where we patted the turtle for good luck and walked around. Apart from unique and gorgeous surroundings that are to this day used for monks there were three things that caught my eye. First one were the statues protecting the pagoda. Their hair and facial hair was made from real hair. Hard to believe but true! Second one was a car that belonged to a monk who burned himself alive as a protest against regime’s policies of discriminating against Buddhists and violating religious freedom in Vietnam in the 60s. It reminded me of Jan Palach a young student who burned himself alive on Wenceslav’s square in Prague in 60s as a protest against communism. Sad story indeed!! The last but not least was a local “gym” that monks use for exercising. Amazing place, not much there to see but considering the surroundings, I found that really funny.
